The mapping products produced by NGS have
been based on photogrammetric techniques. Over the past few years, advances
in digital photogrammetry, spaceborne
imaging systems, Synthetic Aperture Radar
(SAR), imaging spectroscopy (hyperspectral
data), and in Light Detection and Ranging
(LIDAR) have made it possible to re-examine the conventional approach
to the mapping of shorelines
and airspace
obstructions. Our research program is designed to evaluate each of these
technologies, and develop advanced
data processing techniques for possible integration into our production
system.
We have gained access to several state of the art systems by establishing collaborations with a number of other research groups. For a brief description of our ongoing efforts and collaborations please follow the links for the individual technologies. |
