NOAA Employees and Partners Find Innovative Ways to Meet Constituent Needs More Quickly and Cost Effectively

Last week, NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) provided custom training on geodesy and geodetic surveying for 11 representatives from 7 National Estuarine Research Reserves System (NERRS) sites. This training represents a critical element supporting both the NERRS Sea Level Sentinel Site Initiative, as well as the larger NOAA Sentinel Site Program. What would normally be taught over the course of two or three full-week sessions was condensed to one intensive week, resulting in a significant cost savings for participants. The staff from these seven Reserves will now be able to conduct much of the surveying work themselves, at a large cost savings to the Reserve system.
