In 1970 the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was created from the Environmental Science Services Administration (ESSA) and other agencies.
NOAA 200th Celebration Web Site This website was created in 2007 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey as the oldest predessor agency of NOAA. It is a compilation of articles and pictures that explain NOAA's diverse endeavors in the past, present, and future.
