Accurate height information can increase efficiency and accuracy of water delivery and drainage systems, improve disaster preparedness, and aid ecosystem science or restoration. Height Modernization will also support emergency management planning, coastal land use planning and management, and monitoring of elevation changes.
PRVD02, when approved by the Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee, will be the official civilian vertical datum for surveying and mapping activities for the islands of Puerto Rico, Culebra, Mona and Vieques of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. At that time, PRVD02 will supersede all previously published height systems determined by other Federal surveying and mapping agencies on these islands.
Virgin Island Vertical Datum of 2009 (VIVD09)VIVD09 is the official civilian vertical datum for surveying and mapping activities for the islands of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas of the United States Virgin Islands, and it supersedes all previously published height systems determined by other Federal surveying and mapping agencies on these islands.
