FAQ’s

Who can/should attend?
Representatives from state agencies or universities interested in advancing the National Height Modernization Program and implementing "Height Mod" on a state or local level are invited to attend. Many past participants have received grant funding from NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS), but that is not a requirement for attendance. Here are general guidelines to determine if you should register to attend this meeting:

a) You work for the non-federal public sector (ie. primarily state, but possibly also local) OR at a university, and

b) You would like to champion Height Mod within your state and/or become directly involved with Height Mod related projects.

If you are interested in learning more about Height Modernization but do not meet the guidelines described above, you should continue to monitor NGS webpages for other events. For example, the Western States Regional Webinar was open to everyone interested, and NGS will host similar events in the future. Additionally, due to space limitations, no more than 3 individuals per organization (i.e. either a government agency and/or university) should attend this year's meeting in-person. It is likely that most organizations will only have 1 or 2 representatives.

What is the cost? Does NGS cover any travel costs?
All attendees will have to pay for their own travel and lodging expenses. If an official letter of invitation is required, please contact us . Additionally, when making hotel reservations, ask to receive the federal hotel rate since you are attending a federal meeting.
