DEM Application Analysis in the Aeronautical Survey Program is an ongoing process. Research is currently being done in the following areas:
Development of high-accuracy digital surface models (DSMs) from NGS aerial photography or other remote sensing technologies.
Investigation of techniques for utilizing obstruction data collected in the field to update elevations in the DSMs.
Comparison of
digital photogrammetry
,
hyperspectral
, and
LIDAR
data for airport obstruction analysis.
Creation of simulated runway approaches ("
fly-throughs
") as an aid to planning and field survey personnel.
