LAND INFORMATION SYSTEMS GUIDEBOOK
The Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee publishes a guidebook for
states, counties, cities, and regional planning bodies involved in developing
multipurpose land information systems (MPLIS). The guidebook focuses on
local government's role in developing MPLIS, and presents theoretical and
empirical information on how to develop land information systems. It is
intended for those who must evaluate, plan, and implement land information
systems development and describes how, or how to find out how, to accomplish
such tasks. The guidebook provides background information for making land
information systems decisions, and discusses the decisions' implications.
It also covers the planning process, institutional context, organizational
models, operating procedures, standards, pitfalls, and other issues.
The guidebook is bound in two loose-leaf volumes and costs $50, prepayment
required. The looseleaf format accommodates the additions, revisions, and
updates inherent in this rapidly evolving field. The cost of first-class
postage and handling is included in the publication price for domestic
orders. For orders sent outside the United States, a 25-percent surcharge
is added to cover additional postage costs. Special handling and mailing
can be arranged on request for an additional charge. Please make your check
