Some interesting features to note about this image are: The large area of mid/high altitudes (green/orange/red) is the Northwest tip of the Rocky Mountains, transitioning into the Alaska Range. Notice also that the Rockies contain significant high-frequency information which have similar high-frequency effects upon the geoid. Although not prominently visible, Mt. McKinley (at 20,320 feet, the highest point in North America) is located in the Alaska Range (Latitude ~63N, Longitude ~209E). The E/W mountain range in the North of Alaska is known as the Brooks Range. Apart from the Rockies/Alaska Range, this range has the largest terrain-induced impact on the geoid in the area. das/dgm 10/18/96
