README, too! file 26-jul-94 dgm/dgs (an) This floppy contains four "extra" files README.TOO (the file you are reading now) AREA2.PAR (a replacement AREA.PAR file) AL94N.XII (ALASKA94 Xi deflections for northern Alaska) AL94N.ETA (ALASKA94 Eta deflections for northern Alaska) A WARNING: The PC version of DEFLEC can only work with 6 pairs of deflection grids at a time. It takes 6 pairs of grids to cover the conterminous U.S., which makes Alaska, the Hawaiian and the Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands grids "extra". The easiest way to deal with this limitation is to make an "extra" subdirectory, which would hold a copy of DEFLEC, AREA.PAR, AL94N.XII (.ETA), AL94S.XII (.ETA), D93HW.XII (.ETA), and D93PR.XII (.ETA). Then, you would work in that subdirectory when operating in Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. The AREA.PAR file distributed with DEFLEC does not include the AL94N.XII (.ETA), AL94S.XI (.ETA), D93HW.XII (.ETA) or D93PR.XII (.ETA) entries. So, DEFLEC will not recognize the presence of Alaskan, Hawaiian or Puerto Rican grids, unless you modify your AREA.PAR file. One example is included in the file named AREA2.PAR. To use this instead: REN AREA.PAR AREA.OLD REN AREA2.PAR AREA.PAR Program DEFLEC will then recognize the existence of the AL94N, AL94S, D93HW and D93PR grids. If you are not working in Hawaii, and find the "file not found" error messages troublesome, you can delete those offending entries in your area.par file using your favorite line editor.
