Shoreline Mapping/Aerial Photography
Falling under the auspices of NGS, the Coastal Mapping Program holds the enormous responsiblity of producing accurate maps of the nation's 95,000 miles of shoreline. .The shoreline maps are used to create and update the shoreline on NOAA's nautical charts and other coastal management purposes. .The nautical chart is called the most fundamental of navigation instruments.. For this reason, its accuracy and completeness are essential.. Creating and/or updating this information involves several types of data collection.

Some of the phases of shoreline mapping that are offered to contractors include:
- Planning
- Collecting Remotely Sensed Imagery from Aircraft or Satellite (with positioning and orientation parameters)
- Conducting Ground Control Surveys
- Installing Water Land Gages
- Making Water Level Observations
- Processing and Analyzing Data
- Performing Map Compilation (with attribution)
- Controlling Quality
- Writing Reports
